French musician and singer Emilie Simon was born in 1978. She was a student of ancient music before turning to writing and composing electronic music. She found success in France with her self-titled debut album released in 2003. It won an award in France for Best Electronic Album, helped in part, by her striking videos.

This is the chronicle of a village on the northern China plains during the post-1978 economic reforms. It examines how Daqiu Village led by Yu Zuomin, a Communist Party secretary and president of the local industrial conglomerate, became the richest village in China and a model for the rural reforms of the 1980s and early 1990s.

Michael, Steven and Nick are young factory workers from Pennsylvania who enlist into the Army to fight in Vietnam. Before they go, Steven marries the pregnant Angela and their weddingparty is also the mens farewell party. After some time and many horrors the three friends fall in the hands of the Vietcong and are brought to a prison camp in which they are forced to play Russian roulette against each other. Michael makes it possible for them to escape, but they soon get separated again.
