A loose remake of Die zwolf Geschworenen, set in a Russian school. 12 jurors are struggling to decide the fate of a Chechen teenager who allegedly killed his Russian stepfather who took the teenager to live with him in Moscow during the Chechen War in which teenager lost his parents. The jurors: a racist taxi-driver, a suspicious doctor, a vacillating TV producer, a Holocaust survivor, a flamboyant musician, a cemetery manager, and others represent the fragmented society of modern day Russia. A stray bird (a touch of New Age cinema) is flying above the jurors' heads, alluding to tolerance.

Nikita is a young lady who with two Nihilist friends commit robbery and murder while on drugs.
After her trial she is not executed or taken to prison, but to a school for special operatives. She is told that Nikita no longer exists and she will be trained to pay back society for what she has done, as a spy/assassin. She is trained for over two years and with no warning is handed a gun in a restaurant and told to kill the man at the next table as her handler leaves.

A group of terrorists attack a bus filled with Division recruits and kidnap Alex and Thom, who are both unaware that the attack is a test orchestrated by Division. Michael, Percy, Michael and Amanda watch as Alex is tortured, but Alex manages to escape contact Nikita for help. Meanwhile, as Owen begins to trust Nikita, he reveals some alarming information about her fiance.

S01E08 Phoenix: Division sends Thom to eliminate Anna, a woman who was having a secret affair with a U.S. Senator. Division agrees to cover up any trace of the affair as long as the Senator agrees to help pass a bill that will continue to fund the agency. Nikita, with Alex's help, attempts to reach out to Anna's parents, but the conversation doesn't go as she expected.
