A God-fearing bluesman takes to a wild young woman who, as a victim of childhood sexual abuse, looks everywhere for love, never quite finding it.
In Mississippi, the former blues man Lazarus is in crisis, missing his wife that has just left him. He finds the town slut and nymphomaniac Rae dumped on the road nearby his little farm, drugged, beaten and almost dead. Lazarus brings her home, giving medicine and nursing and nourishing her like a father, keeping her chained to control her heat. When her boyfriend Ronnie is discharged from the army due to his anxiety issue, he misunderstands the relationship of Lazarus and Rae, and tries to kill him.

Given the number of people she's touched and the acres of ground she's covered over her 30-plus years of slinging songs and six-string soliloquies, it's fitting that Bonnie Raitt would be the first person honored on VH-1's Decades series. That show -- one part tribute, one part concert throwdown -- is captured in full flight on this DVD.

Each of the twenty different guitarists on this collection have their own unique style and are equally important in the development of the blues guitar genre. An eye-opening collection for the uninitiated, and a great find for the most savvy of collectors.
