Frank "Vincent" Zappa (December 21, 1940 – December 4, 1993) was an American composer, singer-songwriter, electric guitarist, record producer, and film director. In a career spanning more than 30 years, Zappa wrote rock, jazz, electronic, orchestral, and musique concrete works. He also directed feature-length films and music videos, and designed album covers. Zappa produced almost all of the more than 60 albums he released with the band The Mothers of Invention and as a solo artist.

A CD version of the album was released in 1987, and contained a new song, "Tengo Na Minchia Tanta" (meaning "I've Got a Big Bunch Of Cock" in Sicilian), sung in Italian by Massimo Bassoli, and over 40 minutes' worth of sound-bites from a direct-to-video release of the same name, documents attempts to produce the film. However, many fans have resented these additions, since "Tengo Na Minchia Tanta" was recorded in 1982, in an entirely different time period, and the movie soundbites are considered by some to be superfluous to the listening tracks. The CD cover and labels alter the titles of 'King Kong' and the first CD edition removed some of the artwork and printed much of it in black and white.
