iAlertU 0.57 Beta Mac OSX | 7.05 MB
iAlertU is a very useful alarm system for your Apple MacBook computer. Basically iAlertU is a car alarm for your Mac.
iAlertU uses the built in sudden motion sensor (SMS) device to detect movement of your MacBook and triggers an audible and visual alarm. The alarm can also be triggered by keyboard and mouse/trackpad movement.
The alarm is designed to continue sounding even after the MacBook screen has been closed. iAlertU is activated and deactivated using the infrared remote control included with every MacBook computer.
Utilizing the built in motion sensor technology, iSight camera and the infrared remote control your MacBook Pro can now be turned into a high tech alarm system. iAlertU is aimed at being a tamper/theft deterrent system for those times when you need to step away from your work momentarily.
Currently this version only works on the MacBook Pro but I am looking into getting it working on the PowerBook and iBook machines.
Here are some key features of -iAlertU-:
- Captured photo can now be emailed automatically to a user specified address.
- Camera image capture improved.
- May work on other Apple computers other than the MacBook line (this is untested).

- Arm and disarm iAlertU without the remote.
- Alarm now activates when power adapter is removed.
- Alarm continues to sound after lid is closed.
- Alarm status screen (last alert time, alarm type, number of activations).
- Flashing screen.
- Adjustable motion sensor sensitivity.
- Adjustable alarm duration.
- Mute button disabled when alarm is sounding.
Requirements:

- Note that this release is simply a bug fix release to help a few people that have had problems running on 10.5.8 (Leopard), or with French as the default language.
- Users of 10.4.x (Tiger) -may- find that it works for them as well. Let us know if it does, as we have no Tiger platforms on which to test this.
- Fixed a problem with the storage of mail passwords on Mac-s using French as the default language.
- Fixed a bug where the Send Test Email button would remain enabled for English users if -Email Alarms- is un-ticked.
- Attempt to make iAlertU run on 10.5.8 by allow it to run without the CoreWLAN framework.
