RPWL - God Has Failed (2000)EAC rip | WavPack, IMG+CUE, LOG | Scans | Rar 3% rec. | 424 MB Genre: progressive rock | Label: Tempus FugitRPWL is named as an anagram of the last names of the members, Phil Paul Risettion, Chris Postl, Karlheinz Wallner, and Jurgen ‘Yogi’ Lung. Yogi, Chris and Karl were formerly members of a Pink Floyd tribute band, which should be obvious from the moment this CD starts. That echoey guitar, that lazy way of singing, all calls to mind some of the best Floyd tunes. On the opening cut, “Hole In the Sky,” they even use “set my controls for the heart of the sun” as a lyric. |

Blondie is perhaps the most commercially successful band to emerge from the 1970s punk scene. The original lineup consisted of Deborah Harry (vocals), Clem Burke (drums / percussion), Jimmy Destri (keyboards), Chris Stein ( guitar / bass guitar) and Gary Valentine (bass guitar / guitar). New York City-based Blondie was formed in 1974, honing its musical skills at the famous punk rock club, CBGBs, and eventually emerging on top of the new wave scene and then crossing over to the pop music mainstream. Their self-titled first album, Blondie, reflected a punk ethos and 1960s girl group sensibilities or, the Ramones meets the Ronettes, as one music critic opined. Blondie made six albums from 1976 to 1982, the most successful being Parallel Lines, considered by many music critics to be one of the best rock albums of all time. Within this time span, from the late seventies to the early eighties, Blondie constituted a major force on the rock/pop scene, producing a string of hit singles internationally. The most well-known of these singles are the reggae-inspired The Tide Is High, the rap song Rapture, and the disco-flavored Heart of Glass and Call Me. More recently, in 1999, the single, Maria, debuted at number one in the United Kingdom, making this song the sixth number one single for the group there. With this hit single, Blondie reached yet another milestone?the first band to have had a number one single in each of the last three decades in the United Kingdom. And the new album, The Curse of Blondie, and its first single Good Boys build on that success. So Blondie continues to make music history and the band s legacy grows. The members of Blondie are true pioneers in every sense of the word. |

The Who - Live At Leeds (40th Anniversary Super-Deluxe Collector's Edition) - (2010) FLACEAC Rip | FLAC(tracks + cue + log) | 4 CDs | 1.43 GB | Full covers Genre: Rock | Label: Universal Music | Cat No. 2750072One of the most critically acclaimed concert albums in rock history, from one of the greatest live bands of all time, just got even better--with the revelatory rediscovery of the recording of the following night's performance. The Who's Live At Leeds - 40th Anniversary Super-Deluxe Collectors' Edition (MCA/UMe), released November 16, 2010, brings together not only the iconic band's concert of February 14, 1970 in Leeds but also the following night's previously unreleased concert in Hull, each with an entire performance of the "Tommy" rock opera. Hailed by Nik Cohn in his 1970 album review in The New York Times as "the best live rock album ever made," Live At Leeds has since been ranked by Rolling Stone among its "500 Greatest Albums Of All Time." Yet the original idea was for The Who's first live album to be a compilation of the best performances from the Leeds show and the February 15th concert in Hull. The band members reportedly preferred the Hull recordings over those at Leeds because of the better acoustics of the more spacious venue. But supposedly there were technical problems, notably that the bass guitar had not been recorded on some songs. Recently, however, an associate of the band returned to the vaults to listen to the Hull recordings and was surprised to discover that the set was wholly intact-- band, bass and audience! Because of the belief that those recordings had not been complete, the album had become Live At Leeds. Yet as now heard for the first time on Live At Leeds - 40th Anniversary Super-Deluxe Collectors' Edition, the Hull show was equally incendiary. |

Jeff Beck - Original Album Classics 1971-1977 (2008) (5CD Box Set) MP3 Label: Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Epic, Legacy | 5CD | MP3 320 kbps | * 500 MB Genre: Blues Rock, Instrumental Rock Five CD release from the acclaimed guitarist contains five of his classic albums housed in paper sleeves in one package. This set from the British guitar legend features the albums Rough And Ready (1971), Jeff Beck Group (1972), Blow By Blow (1975), Wired (1976) and Jeff Beck Group With Jan Hammer Live (1977). While he was as innovative as Jimmy Page, as tasteful as Eric Clapton, and nearly as visionary as Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck never achieved the same commercial success as any of those contemporaries, primarily because of the haphazard way he approached his career. After Rod Stewart left the Jeff Beck Group in 1971, Beck never worked with a charismatic lead singer who could have helped sell his music to a wide audience. Furthermore, he was simply too idiosyncratic, moving from heavy metal to jazz fusion within a blink of an eye. As his career progressed, he became more fascinated by automobiles than guitars, releasing only one album during the course of the '90s. All the while, Beck retained the respect of fellow guitarists, who found his reclusiveness all the more alluring. Beck began his musical career following a short stint at London's Wimbledon Art College. He earned a reputation by supporting Lord Sutch, which helped him land the job as the Yardbirds' lead guitarist following the departure of Eric Clapton. Beck stayed with the Yardbirds for nearly two years, leaving in late 1966 with the pretense that he was retiring from music. He returned several months later with "Love Is Blue," a single he played poorly because he detested the song. Later in 1967, he formed the Jeff Beck Group with vocalist Rod Stewart, bassist Ron Wood, and drummer Aynsley Dunbar, who was quickly replaced by Mickey Waller; keyboardist Nicky Hopkins joined in early 1968. With their crushingly loud reworkings of blues songs and vocal and guitar interplay, the Jeff Beck Group established the template for heavy metal. Neither of the band's records, Truth (1968) or Beck-Ola (a 1969 album that was recorded with new drummer Tony Newman), was particularly successful, and the bandmembers tended to fight regularly, especially on their frequent tours of the U.S. In 1970, Stewart and Wood left to join the Faces, and Beck broke up the group. Beck had intended to form a power trio with Vanilla Fudge members Carmine Appice (drums) and Tim Bogert (bass), but those plans were derailed when he suffered a serious car crash in 1970. By the time he recuperated in 1971, Bogart and Appice were playing in Cactus, so the guitarist formed a new version of the Jeff Beck Group. Featuring keyboardist Max Middleton, drummer Cozy Powell, bassist Clive Chaman, and vocalist Bobby Tench, the new band recorded Rough and Ready (1971) and Jeff Beck Group (1972). Neither album attracted much attention. Cactus dissolved in late 1972, and Beck, Bogert, and Appice formed a power trio the following year. The group's lone studio album -- a live record was released in Japan but never in the U.K. or U.S. -- was widely panned due to its plodding arrangements and weak vocals, and the group dis banded the following year. For about 18 months, Beck remained quiet, re-emerging in 1975 with Blow by Blow. Produced by George Martin, Blow by Blow was an all-instrumental jazz fusion album that received strong reviews. Beck collaborated with Jan Hammer, a former keyboardist for Mahavishnu Orchestra, for 1976's Wired, and supported the album with a co-headlining tour with Hammer's band. The tour was documented on the 1977 album Jeff Beck with the Jan Hammer Group -- Live. Jeff Beck Group - Rough And Ready (1971) 01. Got The Feeling [4:46] 02. Situation [5:27] 03. The Yardbirds - The Very Best Of The Yardbirds FLAC (1991)EAC rip | 22 tracks | FLAC-image - Log - Cue | Covers | Release: 1991 | 460 MB Genre: Rock, Classic Rock, Blues- Rock, Rhythm and Blues | Label: Music Club The Yardbirds are an English rock band that had a string of hits in the mid 1960s, including "For Your Love", "Over Under Sideways Down" and "Heart Full of Soul". The group is notable for having started the careers of three of rock's most famous guitarists: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page, all of whom were in the top fifteen of Rolling Stone's 100 Top Guitarists list (Clapton as #4, Page as #9, and Beck as #14). A blues-based band that broadened its range into pop and rock, The Yardbirds were pioneers in guitar innovations of the '60s: fuzz tone, feedback, distortion, backwards echo, improved amplification, etc. Pat Pemberton, writing for Spinner, holds that the Yardbirds were "the most impressive guitar band in rock music". After the Yardbirds broke up in 1968, their current lead guitarist Jimmy Page founded what became Led Zeppelin. |
